Our History
Mr. Edward Hines founded the Edward Hines Lumber Co. in 1892. Early on Hines was dedicated to the marketing principle of providing lumber products focused on specific customer needs. Hines was among the first companies to segregate delivery of lumber into standard sizes and grades based upon customer specifications. Hines also established an elaborate distribution network starting with sawmills, centralized distribution points, a nucleus concentration yard in Chicago and finally, retail outlets throughout Chicagoland.

Today
Today, under the guidance of the founder's grandson, Edward Hines, Hines operates as one of the largest building materials suppliers in the region. Our facilities include a full service Millwork Division (that has its own custom shop, steel door shop, lock shop, and interior door line), Cabinet Division, Window Center, Commercial Division and 9 full service lumberyards. At Hines, you will find that our people are lumbermen, most with years of experience in the industry. We are the leading supplier of lumber and building materials in Chicagoland. Hines also supplies panel products, roof components and pre-finished cedar siding.
