Edward Hines Lumber Co. contributes to the "FSC House" at Greenbuild

Buffalo Grove, IL, October 18, 2007 - The Edward Hines Lumber Co. Custom Millwork Facility has designed, built and installed the custom cabinets and paperstone countertops for the "FSC House," which will be on display at the November Greenbuild 2007 Expo in Chicago, IL. The FSC House is constructed from materials sourced from forests that have been certified as well-managed under the Forest Stewardship Council, the world's leading and only truly independent forest management certification program.

Some of the products featured by Hines Lumber in the FSC House have been supplied by Horigan Urban Forest Products, Inc., Columbia Forest Products, PaperStone and Titebond GreenChoice adhesive and sealant solutions. The cabinetry showcased by Hines features Columbia Forest Products' new environmentally safe PureBond™ hardwood plywood. The countertops featured by Hines in the Custom Coffee Cart are from PaperStone - a commercial and residential green building material that contributes to sustainability. Rocky Mountain Hardware has supplied the cabinet hardware pulls. RMH can contribute toward achieving LEED® points for your project. The finish is Sher-Wood® Kem Acqua® Lacquer, which is a high quality, water reducible, acrylic latex clear system for finishing many items without the hazards associated with nitrocellulose lacquer and highly flammable solvents.

Edward Hines Lumber Co. is pleased to announce that its North Chicago Branch has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody (COC) certification, the goal being to increase their customers' access to FSC-certified products.

Being able to offer products manufactured from FSC-certified wood is a natural fit reflecting the corporate values of our company," said Edward Hines, President.

Hines Lumber's COC certification was awarded by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), a pioneering certification and standards development firm of environmental claims for the forest and forest products sector and other industries, as well as a leading provider of FSC Chain-of-Custody certification. SCS was among the first certifiers to become accredited to offer FSC-endorsed certification services.
