All Edward Hines Lumber Co. Chicagoland Operations Granted FSC Chain of Custody Certification
Buffalo Grove, IL, October 23, 2008 - Edward Hines Lumber Co. announced today that all seven of their branch yards, as well as their roof and floor truss plant, pre-stain plant and custom millwork facility, have been certified by Scientific Certification System (SCS) under registration code SCS-COC-00791. Wood products certified by SCS are recognized as coming from well-managed forests, adhering to strict environmental and socioeconomic standards in accordance with the principles and criteria of the FSC.
Bill Maniates, Hines Green Product Manager, states, "Having all our operations certified will mean Chicago's architects and developers can specify FSC-certified wood for their projects with confidence, knowing they are readily available and prices will be more affordable." Maniates further stated, "Chicago's builders will be able to get FSC-certified dimension lumber, plywood, outdoor treated lumber, and Dricon interior fire retardant lumber and plywood at our branch yards and order custom millwork, exterior trim, siding and roof and floor trusses from a Hines product specialist. By purchasing FSC-certified wood our builders will be getting a market and brand advantage, as well as encouraging better forestry practices and promote sustainable building."
Founded in 1892, Edward Hines Lumber Co. is one of the largest lumber companies and building materials suppliers in the Chicago region. 888-ED-HINES
